Full Description
The Tithe Map for Countisbury shows a building in this position. Land parcels 119 is described as containing "The Poor House and Footpath", with land parcel 118 (the small plot to the south of the building) described as "Poor House Garden". Both were owned and 'occupied' by the Reverend Matthew Mundy. [1] The building is shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps but is not labelled. It is not clear whether it was still in use as a poor house at this time. [2,3] The building is still extant and is now labelled "Church Cottage". [4]
