Full Description

The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Lanacombe, which included this site. Noted was a roughly circular mound with a diameter of c. 4 metres and a height of 0.15 metres, coinciding with a distinct vegetation change. Probing the mound suggested it has a stony makeup. The feature is possibly a prehistoric clearance cairn, but may also have a natural origin. [1]
