[1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Lanacombe, which included this site. Noted was a well defined oval mound measuring c. 3 metres by 1.5 metres and up to 0.15 metres high. It coincides with a distinct vegetation change and stone is visible on the surface. The feature may be a prehistoric clearance cairn, although it may also be natural in origin. [2]
