MEM23192 - Prehistoric clearance cairn on Lanacombe (Monument)

As part of the Exmoor Mires Project, Cornwall Council Historic Environment Service were contracted to undertake a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Lanacombe, which included this site. A clearance cairn was noted, but this was located outside the survey area, therefore a description was not recorded. [1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Lanacombe, which included this site. Noted was a low stony mound measuring c.5 metres by 2.5 metres with an ovoid morphology. The feature is most likely a clearance cairn of prehistoric date and forms part of the field system MSO7102.
