Full Description

Hillsford Bridge (Farley Water). The bridge was completely inadequate to take the great volume of water, trees and boulders during the 1952 floods but the foundations based on solid rock resisted erosion whilst those based on drift were swept away. [1] The bridge is shown on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. It had an Ordnance Survey benchmark on its northeastern side. [2]
