MEM22559 - Possible prehistoric standing stone on Deer Park (Monument)

A recumbent surface stone which is potentially a recumbent prehistoric standing stone. This is located just east of MSO12241, a prehistoric standing stone.

Full Description

A recumbent stone was noted during a non intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Deer Park, undertaken by South West Archaeology as part of the Exmoor Mires Project. This stone was found to be loose, so probably ex situ. It is located in proximity to next to the standing stone MSO12241. [1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Deer Park, which included this site. Noted was a recumbent surface stone c. 3 metres east of the standing stone MSO12241. This is potentially a recumbent standing stone. [2]
