Full Description
As part of the Exmoor Mires Project, South West Archaeology were contracted to undertake a non intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners. Located was a quartz rich stone which leans to the northeast. It is located in an erosion hollow c. 2 metres in diameter, which is now vegetated. [1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners, which included this surface stone. Its location suggests the stone probably originates from mineral prospecting work (see MSO7011). [2]
