Full Description

As part of the Exmoor Mires Project, South West Archaeology were contracted to undertake a non intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners. Noted here was a quartz rich stone in the base of the streambed. Similar stones were observed in the base of the stream, one visibly out of position. [1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners, which included this site. The stone is considered to be a surface stone of unknown date. [2]
