As part of the Exmoor Mires Project, South West Archaeology were contracted to undertake a non intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners. A quartz rich stone was found which sits in 2.2 metre diameter erosion hollow. [1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on Spooners, which included this site. The quartz rich fragment of rock up to c. 0.8 metres in length is probably a fragment of post-medieval mining waste. [2]
