Full Description
The building is shown as 'Splat Barn' on the 1889 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [1] It is also shown on the 1903 map. [2] Slat means allotment, so possibly some connection with the Manor Strip system. The house is marked as a building of historic interest on the 6 inch map of 1929. [3] Splatt Barn Cottage is notable for its large shouldered end stack. The thatched house with attached barn probably dates to the 18th Century. [5] This structure appears to be present on the 1841 Porlock Tithe map. [6]
