MEM21969 - North of Bank Square, Dulverton (Building)

North of the cross roads, in Bank Square, is a sequence of unspoilt frontages, mostly pre 1840 in date. The 19th century frontages on the west side of Bank Square are mainly rendered and all with sash windows and six-panel doors. Number 7 has a stone rubble frontage, with recent double glazed timber sash windows, and a plank door with three pane overlight. [1] In 1840, the Town Trustees paid £30 to have the end of the house opposite the Post Office taken down, so as to widen the entrance to Lady Street. [2] There is a tombstone in the garden of 7 Bank Square, which reads 'RIP to Valentine'. [3]
