Full Description
An earthwork scoop in Winsley Wood measuring approximately 5 metres in diameter could be the remains of a quarry of post-medieval or modern date. The scoop or platform is c. 20 metres from the bank forming the boundary of Little Comfort Wood, and circa 15 metres downslope of a forestry track. It contains a single large stone block, possibly supporting its interpretation as a stone quarry. [1, 2] This is not visible on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [3]
