Full Description
Hill House, formerly Sea View House, Ralegh's Cross Mine Captain's house. Located to the east of the Incline Winding House, now a private dwelling. [1] Built by the Ebbw Vale Company for the Mine Captain, Morgan Motgans. 1884 sale particulars list the house as containing drawing, dining and breakfast rooms, nine bedrooms and a drying room or nursery. [2] ST 025 344. Sea View House, Brendon Hill, Washford, Somerset. Youth Hostel opened 1 April 1933. The wardens were Mr and Mrs Allen, accommodation 16 and the hostel open all year. It closed in 1934. Georgian style building. From 1854 the building was leased to the Brendon Hills Iron Ore Company, which operated Raleigh's Cross Mine. [3]
