Full Description
No 14 (Summerhouse), Watersmeet Road. Mid 19th Century. Staff quarters for Lyn Vale Hotel. Stands above road level with terraced access and iron railings.3 window front with one gable. Mullion transom windows with hood moulds. Stepped hood mould and shield above doorway. Elevation, west, has gable and gabled half-dormer. Ground floor splay bays with slate roofs. Barge boards and finials to gables. [1] Summerhouse (no. 14) has a retaining wall, and terrace with railings included in the listing details. This hotel dates from the first half of the 19th Century, and the main range has a left gable slightly brought forward. Windows are mainly two-light mullioned and transomed casements, some with drip courses, and all the gables have decorative barge-boards. [2] The building was visited in April 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 6. [3]
