Full Description
Whitefield, otherwise known as Whitfield, was Witefela in Domesday. It was held by the Bishop of Coutances. Before the Conquest it was held by Sawin. Whitfield was annexed to High Bray in 1086. Some early descents given. [1] The settlement is labelled Whitefield on the High Bray Tithe Map. [2] The site has been mapped using historic maps available to the HER; however, it may have extended beyond the polygonised area prior to 1838. [2-3]
