Summary

A group of linear mounds and small spoil heaps were noted on aerial photographs dating to 1977 and were thought to represent mining activity. It has also been suggested that the features concerned may date to the Second World War.

Full Description

North side of Barcombe Down. A group of linear mounds and small spoil heaps were noted on aerial photographs dating to 1977 and were thought to represent mining activity. [1,2] It has also been suggested that the features concerned may date to the Second World War, based on aerial photographs available to the HER. [3]
