Full Description
SS 717 438. The broken remains of a substantial stone on the northern slope of Winaway was discovered by Martin Walker, and recorded as part of his lithic monument survey. He mentions that its shape negates alignment, and so it may possibly be a grave marker. Visited 10 August 1995. [1] Norman Quinnell comments that Walker's description suggests a natural exposure. [2] The site has not yet been visited by The Royal Commission for the Historic Monuments of England. It may be natural, but may just possibly be a standing stone. [3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
