Site Event/Activity record EEM14532 - 2014: Eval - Spooners, Exmoor

Technique(s)

Organisation

Exmoor National Park Authority

Date

May 2014

Description

The discovery of a pebble tool (MEM22498) possibly Mesolithic in date, during Mire restoration indicated to archaeologists that an occupation site may be present in the immediate area. Two small trenches were dug with an aim to ascertain whether archaeological deposits could be located. Though anthropogenic features were noted in one trench – seen as a possible stakehole and charcoal flecks – insufficient evidence was noted to suggest the presence of occupation.
