LYNTON AND LYNMOUTH SS7149 CHURCH HILL, Lynton 858-1/4/13 (North side) South gateway and gates to churchyard, Church of St Mary - GV II
Churchyard gateway with gates. C1900. Stone piers and slated roof, wooden gates. A pair of plain rectangular piers carries a low-pitched hipped slated roof to a deep overhanging flat soffit. On a single stone step is a pair of plank gates to bold scrolled top rail and containing an open panel with diagonal vertical balusters above a dentil mould. There are gates of related design both to the S porch of Church of St Mary (qv) and at the W entrance (qv) to the church, all of them representative of the Arts and Crafts movement.
